Like glimmering gold on the mirror-like mind
I believed what I’s told & I set off to wind
My way through the fold & across all the lines
Like I’d been plucked care
From the shimmering vine

The old cosmic call that I sometimes hear
Is like an old-fashioned tune that plays soft on the ears
I prayed for the moon when I couldn’t purchase one beer
The day lily bloomed; the stadium cheered
Oh, it means what it means
It’s been a very strange year

Though my lost fortune’s now more than regained
In what was a dungeon I spent half my days
Like a big bird that squawks in a cage
You would’ve thought I went looking for pain
It was silly to be
So un-open to change

These are days that sparkle and shine
